White Water Rafting

Was it worth it? 

Hell Yes!!!

While in Lotus, CA.. we spent time at the American River with #H20Adventures. Booked a reservation for 1PM, arrived an hour early.

After they check waivers and accountability, a sandwich bag is provided for them to store your valuables (such as car keys ect). Your then led to camp, Gear up, restroom break if needed and final briefing or announcements. They will introduce all the Guides and tell you which team has who. You may request a guide, as we saw they accommodated those who did.

ALL ABOARD!!!

Your guide will hold the raft as you all pile on. Once your on, the guide will carry you to the current and off you go!

Our Amazing, fearless, funny guide's name was Ann. She guided us as best it could have been. Thanks Ann!

We got to swim, when the water permitted. It was definitely a humbling experience, to swim in a rapid. If you don't take a deep breath at the right time, you might end up drinking that river water. The rapids pull you in so fast, you can go under without taking a breath. Just remember that H20 Adventures and all their Guides will inform you about everything. Ask away if you have questions and have fun!

I was not able to tell the difference with the rapids class ll and lll. I felt the raft speeds up the same and they are both a bit bumpy. Water splashes everywhere and its like a water roller coaster, fun fun!!! The guide gives you one of four commands, to listen for along the river and positions the raft for optimal safety/fun.

Commands Include:

"Forward" (Paddle Towards You)

"Backward" (Paddle Away From You)

"Left Turn" ("Only" Left Side will Paddle Backwards, Right side will paddle forward.)

"Right Turn" ("Only" Right Side will paddle backwards, left side will paddle forward.)

The raft moves best when you PADDLE TOGETHER in-sync. Yes it will take some practice.

Your guide will announce each rapid and they have names after them too. One was "Hotel Bar" and there is plenty more! Listen to your guides commands for the approach to each rapid and during the rapid.

If your feeling Dare-Devilish, Rock/Cliff jumping is available. Lucky for us, we were able to stop at the biggest rock along the route. SO AWESOME RIGHT>?!? YES!!

After the rapids were done, we just smoothly went along the current to our pick up zone.

We let some air out of the raft, carried it onto the trailer. Walked up to the bus pickup zone. They handed us our sandwich bags of valuables and offered masks for anyone who needed it. (Covid rules)

They offer a home made brownie for each person, it was delicious!

Once back at the parking lot from the bus ride back, you can choose to use their showers, conveniently located in the restrooms.

Off we went back home after cleaning up.
